Work Site Safety Management
Challenge
Wallace Construction required a practical, flexible, and cost-effective solution to manage worksite safety in accordance with ACC requirements. The system needed to:
- Host a safety video for each construction site.
- Provide a site-specific questionnaire to test contractors on the video content, with automated pass/fail results.
- Ensure contractors completed questionnaires on entry to and on exit from each site.
- Include a Safety Incident Report questionnaire allowing users to record incidents and upload photographs.
Each completed questionnaire generated an automated email, formatted for seamless processing through Microsoft Power Automate. This workflow maintained up-to-date records of:
- Certified contractors
- Contractors currently on site
- Site visit history
- Reported safety incidents
Solution
Using CK5, we developed dedicated web pages for each site and hosted the required safety videos.
With QS5, we built and deployed all the necessary surveys, which were made easily accessible through QR codes displayed at each worksite entrance and exit. Contractors could simply scan the code using their phone to complete the required survey on the spot.
To enhance usability, we also created a management page that recognised returning users on their own devices — automatically populating their details for fast and seamless entry and exit processing.
Outcome
The combined CK5 and QS5 solution delivered a fully automated, mobile-friendly safety management system. The use of QR codes simplified access for contractors, reduced administrative overhead, improved compliance tracking, and ensured all contractors were properly certified before entering the site.
